If an instructor does not want an assignment to count towards the final grade, they have 3 options:
- The instructor will have to move the assignment to a category that has 0% weight. (ie. Move the assignment in question to “Non-graded”)
Go to the “Assignments” page of the course
Find the assignment
Move it to the “Non-Graded” category
- The instructor can excuse every student in the class by typing “EX” where that assignment grade is supposed to be. (ie. type EX instead of a number in the gradebook)
- The instructor can edit the assignment and change the value from 100 pts to 0 pts.
** Remember that these 3 options will result in the assignment being ignored and prevent Canvas automation from pulling the grade.
