Clear Browser Data

Clearing your web browser’s cache, cookies, and history can help fix issues with loading websites or improve performance.

⚠️ Note: Doing this may also remove saved data like:

  • Stored passwords
  • Address bar suggestions
  • Shopping cart contents

If you want to keep some of this information, write it down first.


Quick Shortcut (Desktop Browsers)

Press one of the following while your browser is open:

  • Windows: Ctrl + Shift + Delete
  • Mac: Command + Shift + Delete

This will open the menu to clear browsing data.

If the shortcut doesn’t work, follow the browser-specific steps below.


Instructions by Browser

Google Chrome

  1. Type chrome://settings/clearBrowserData in the address bar.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Check:
    • Browsing history
    • Download history
    • Cookies and other site data
    • Cached images and files
  4. Choose a time range (select All time to clear everything).
  5. Click Clear Data.
  6. Close and reopen Chrome.

Mozilla Firefox

  1. Click the History menu → Clear Recent History.
    • If the menu bar is hidden, press Alt.
  2. Select a time range (choose Everything for all).
  3. Under Details, select which items to clear (choose All Items for everything).
  4. Click Clear Now.
  5. Close and reopen Firefox.

Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the Hub icon (three horizontal lines).
  2. Click the History icon (clock), then choose Clear All History.
  3. Select:
    • Browsing history
    • Cookies and saved website data
    • Cached data and files
  4. Click Clear.
  5. After the “All Clear!” message, close and reopen Edge.

Safari (Mac – version 8 and later)

Quit Safari (Safari → Quit Safari or press Command + Q).

From the Safari menu, choose Clear History or Clear History and Website Data.

Select a time range.

Click Clear History.
